This weekend has been stressful with most of the family sick with strep throat (luckily I was spared). Everyone has been a little on edge and I have been helping pick up some of the slack. After taking care of sick kids for a few days it was time to get out and exercise. Typically my workout for the day would include a swim and a run for my triathlon training. However, I felt I needed to get out in nature and break up my normal routine. The Utah mountains had just received a few feet of powder over the past 72 hours so I decided to head up and go snowshoeing. I am so glad I did! I had the mountain practically to myself.
Even though it was challenging going up the mountain in deep powder with snowshoes the effort was well worth it because running back down the mountain was awesome! Connecting with nature while exercising was just what I needed to feel renewed and ready for the week ahead. As my new habit I made sure to take a few mindful moments to connect myself with my surroundings and remember that despite all the chaos that seems to happen in my personal or professional life I am so grateful to live on such an amazing world.
